His works often feature expansive acrylic Mediterranean skies meeting with linen and canvas skylines formed from collage, while at other times, they are bathed in the soft, translucent light of Southern Europe.

Biography

Joan Peris, born in 1965 in Castelló de la Plana (Spain), is a multidisciplinary plastic artist who has lived and worked in Barcelona for over 25 years.

Throughout his career, Peris has explored a variety of artistic forms, including painting, photography, digital art, and sculpture.

His work is distinguished by its experimentation with materials and the fusion of diverse elements, resulting in highly textured, contrast-rich pieces that reflect his deep commitment to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.

Peris' journey as an artist began with studies in graphic design, photography, and ceramics during the 1980's and 1990's. This broad foundation allowed him to gain expertise in multiple disciplines, shaping his unique approach to art.

For over a decade, he worked as a ceramic designer, a profession that cultivated his appreciation for materials and form, which would later influence his artistic creations.

It was in the mid-1990s that Peris discovered his passion for painting, marking a turning point in his artistic career. He opened his first studio in Barcelona, a city that provided fertile ground for his creative pursuits.

As his painting practice evolved, he began exhibiting his work in various galleries and international art fairs, gaining recognition both locally and abroad. His early paintings were heavily influenced by his background in ceramics, with a focus on materiality and texture, setting the foundation for the signature style that would come to define his body of work.

The early 2000's brought another shift in Peris' artistic trajectory, as he rekindled his interest in photography. This period marked the beginning of his exploration into digital art, which saw him merge his skills in photography and painting to create innovative works that blur the lines between the two mediums. His digital pieces are characterized by the fusion of photographic imagery with painterly techniques, creating a dynamic interplay between realism and abstraction.

This integration of photography and painting allowed Peris to further expand the possibilities of his art, leading to new creative directions that continue to shape his practice.

Today, Joan maintains strong ties with several galleries that regularly showcase his work in various locations, including Barcelona, Girona, and Mallorca, as well as internationally in Belgium and the Netherlands. His work continues to evolve, consistently reflecting his ongoing exploration of materials, forms, and the fusion of diverse artistic techniques.
